My personal search on disaster preparedness started several years ago for the earthquakes of California. It soon became an intellectual exercise as I developed more information on the subject.
During the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 I discovered how under prepared I was, though my position was not as bad as others.
What struck me in the following days was the sense of helplessness demonstrated by a vast number of people who were affected by the earthquake. It never ceases to amaze me 26 years later, how many people still refuses to take action to prepare themselves and loved ones.
There is a cure; Education: Knowing what to do prior to the need, not after.
It deeply distresses me to see people destitute, helpless, and lost, regardless of the reason.
Unfortunately their will always be a sub-sector of people that absolutely will never do anything to help themselves even if handed the tools. I can not help them.
I also know that a vast majority of people will, if given the resources plan and prepare themselves for the emergencies that may befall them.
Which one are you?
Are you concerned? Would you like some answers?
